Whether you're seeking inspiration for a future trip to Senegal or just a little escapism - here are the Instagram accounts that you need on your feed.
As you may already know by now, Mamy and I are based in Paris and London and although we try to travel to Senegal as much as we can, our respective lifes don't always make it that easy. Instagram is such a fantastic resource to be in the know of what's happening, new places and inspiration so here are the 5 accounts we rely on on a daily basis.
With over 71,000 followers, Lee Litumbe needs no introduction. She's been travelling around Africa on her own and has been spending some quality time in Senegal over the past few years. Her images are dreamy and her website is full of great tips.
2. @dakarlives
Dakar Lives and its sister feed LekkRek (food in wolof) curate all the best photos of Senegal on the 'Gramosphere' from idyllic beaches to buzzing street scenes, they've got it covered. They have recently launched a website featuring all the best spots and latest openings.
3. @ricci_s
Ricci Shyrock is an independent photographer based in Dakar who specialises in street style photos. I love her 'Boubou Friday' photos capturing men dressed in traditional Senegalese outfits.
4. @layepro
Abdoulaye Ndao is not an amateur, he's been perfecting his skills for years and was picked to capture the official portrait of the current president Mr Macky Sall. I love the simplicity of his feed and the intensity of his photos.
5. @savedakar
Last but no least, Save Dakar are on a mission to raise awareness and change behaviours in Senegalese communities about recycling, pollution and the environment with eye-opening images. Go follow!
