Loved by influencers, celebrities and icons alike (Audrey Hepburn, to name just one), the basket bag made its stylish debut back in the 1970s, and has since become a chic and sturdy choice for fashion lovers across the globe.

Here at La Basketry, basket weaving is in our very soul, and we’ve been working hard to give the traditional basket bag a modern day face lift! Each one of ours is lovingly handmade to order using cream cotton rope, meaning it will naturally elevate any outfit you choose.

Look one: Floral

What to pack in your basket bag:

• An extra tote for shopping
• Sunglasses

Perfect for the Sunday stroller. After a lazy lie in and breakfast in bed, I’ll grab my favourite dress and comfy trainers to spend the morning wandering the streets of London’s East End.

I’ll make my way to Columbia Road Flower Market for fresh blooms and fresh coffee, and fill my basket bag with a bunch to bring home! When I need a pitstop, it’s off to Lily Vanilli for delicious seasonal cakes and pastries. 

Tabara’s top tip: Find a vintage scarf to match your dress in one of the many charity shops, and tie it onto your basket bag’s handle for a splash of colour.

Look two: Alfresco

What to pack in your basket bag:

• SPF
• A disposable camera

Summer is the season for spending as much time in nature as possible, and our basket bag is light and sturdy enough to last you through the day. 

For this look, I love going west to Richmond, to wander through the iconic Petersham Nurseries before taking a stroll along the Thames. 

I’ll stop by Wholefoods for supplies, before making my way to Richmond park for an alfresco lunch. It’s a perfect weekend vibe.

Tabara’s top tip: If you’re lucky, you might see some deer, so get that disposable camera out to take some snaps! 

Look three: Evening

What to pack in your basket bag:

• Your favourite lippy
• A mini bottle of perfume

It’s date night time! For nights like this, I’ll head back central for a night on the tiles with someone special.

As the sun starts to set, it’s got to be Soho’s Barrafina for Tapas, then for cocktails on Old Compton Road. I love adding a touch of luxury to my look, and our basket bag’s intricate design makes it perfect to pair with my favourite heels to wine and dine in London’s hotspots. 

Tabara’s top tip: Keep your favourite lippy in your bag for quick touch ups throughout the evening.
